The telephone rings in the office of the Secretary of Defence at the White House. A spokesman for Osama bin-Laden invites the President and his Cabinet to meet, secretly, al-Qaida’s leader in Afghanistan. Purpose: to resolve the conflict between Islam and the West. Desperate, in the face of low public opinion polls and talk of impeachment, the President accepts. In Tora Bora, the guests find bin-Laden-an engineer - is enjoying a luxurious life underground. The two leaders discuss political, religious, and cultural issues, and accuse each other of heinous acts of terrorism. Eventually, both confess their sins and declare repentance. Meanwhile, Laura, Condy, and Hillary (Surprise! Surprise!) learn Arabic and belly dancing, and embrace the veil. Condy falls in love with Osama, who proposes to make her his fifth wife. The President and bin-Laden finally reach an ingenious, but deceitful, agreement. When the President returns to Washington and gives a nationally televised press conference, the watchdogs of democracy witness some ghastly transformations. Dr. Bush and Mr. Hide is a fantasy satirical novel about a political Crusader and a radical Jihadi enmeshed in a ruthless war between fundamentalist Islam and secular, materialistic West.

Shylock of Venice is a sequel to Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. While the trial scene in Shakespeare’s play is crude, unrealistic and unbelievable, designed for the Christian riffraff, the language of the play is very much poetic, with classical and biblical allusions, appreciable only by the educated.
