This is a collection of 251 proverbs (91 illustrated) from Kannada, a South Indian language with a 2000-year literary history and cultural heritage.___Tonse Narayana Krishna Raju, a pediatrician and a neonatologist, who was Professor of Pediatrics at theUniversity of Illinois in Chicago, has published five books of fiction and two translations in Kannada, aclassical Dravidian language from Karnataka, South India. In addition to his passion to study and teachhistory of medicine, Dr. Raju is extremely fond of proverbs. He has studied and published articles aboutJewish, Arabic, Irish, and African proverbs. This is his first translation of South Indian proverbs intoEnglish. He is currently working on another volume on the same topic.
