Ducklings follow their Mama Duck nearly all the time, yet not always. DOG, DOG, DUCK! tells about ducklings whose Mama Mallard is nowhere in sight when they hatch. This children’s picture book gives facts about mallard ducks and their following/imprinting behavior and what, in one case, did happen without a Mama Duck nearby. The story also tells about the wide range of rescued animals living peacefully together in an open space of land--and the animals’ imagined conversations. In addition, this story tells about one person and her incredible commitment to rescuing and caring for several species of animals for more than twenty years on her farmland in rural Ohio.
