Does God Care for the Oppressed? Rejecting a Marcion View of God confronts one of the most challenging questions facing Christianity today: How can a holy, loving, and good God be understood in light of the difficult passages found throughout Scripture? Many readers struggle to reconcile God’s character with accounts of judgment, warfare, suffering, and oppression in the Bible. Like the second-century heretic Marcion, some conclude that the God of the Old Testament is fundamentally different from the God revealed in Jesus Christ. Others simply abandon the Bible altogether. In this compelling study, Pastor William Bennett demonstrates that such conclusions arise not from Scripture itself, but from reading the biblical text apart from its historical, literary, cultural, and theological context. Through careful exegesis, extensive research, and a Christ-centered hermeneutic, he guides readers through some of the Bible’s most difficult passages, revealing the consistent character of God from Genesis to Revelation.Rather than presenting two different gods, Scripture proclaims one God whose holiness, justice, mercy, and love are perfectly united in His redemptive mission. Whether you are a believer wrestling with difficult texts, a skeptic searching for answers, or a student desiring a deeper understanding of Scripture, this book will challenge common misconceptions and invite you to rediscover the God who has always cared for the oppressed and whose plan of redemption culminates in Jesus Christ.
