Este trabalho faz parte de um projeto de fim de curso realizado e defendido na Universidade Central de Ciências Paramédicas da Tunísia. Trata do tema da gravidez em mulheres doentes mentais.Verificámos que 30% não tiveram qualquer acompanhamento médico, 59% tiveram um acompanhamento de qualidade irregular, 34% tiveram uma adesão irregular à medicação, 40% dos cônjuges não foram solidários com as perturbações das suas companheiras, 47% tiveram dificuldade em aceder aos cuidados psiquiátricos, 27% sentiram-se estigmatizadas durante os cuidados ginecológicos/obstétricos, 64% não receberam qualquer preparação para a gravidez e a maternidade, 50% descreveram o seu ambiente familiar como debilitante e 32% descreveram a ausência de um profissional de saúde mental durante a gravidez.Estes desafios associados à perturbação mental de uma futura mãe exigem um apoio abrangente à mãe, que aborde as necessidades de saúde mental, médicas e de apoio social, a fim de promover o desenvolvimento saudável da criança.
