Neuroplasticiteit wordt gevormd op het concept van neuro-rehabilitatie van het zenuwstelsel. De basis van de revalidatie van een beroerte die wordt waargenomen met bewegingsbeperkende therapie en spiegeltherapie zijn oefeningen die gebaseerd zijn op het concept van neuroplasticiteit. Met de bovengenoemde therapieën zijn degenen die een beroerte hebben gehad in staat om door middel van neuroplasticiteit herstel of verbeteringen in sommige of alle motorische functies te bewerkstelligen. Dit is te wijten aan het feit dat hoe meer de beroertepatiënt zijn hersenen gebruikt door middel van oefening, hoe sterker deze zullen groeien. Wanneer de patiënt na een beroerte repetitieve taken uitvoert waarbij oorspronkelijk beschadigde gebieden van de hersenen werden gebruikt, dwingt dit de hersenen en het zenuwstelsel om zich aan te passen en nieuwe manieren te vinden om die bewegingen goed uit te voeren door middel van nieuwe verbindingen.
