How many arresting coincidences must intersect in startling effect before the doubter, if reasonable, must see them as more 'real' and more 'convincing' than mere coincidence? Or perhaps reasonably merely dismiss the question as not worth challenging the imagination about? But my experience has been rather to find the matter more insistent as episode after episode of life suggests that the signal events of my life have woven a pattern that I could not have intended or expected or deserved, and certainly neither foresaw nor planned.
