Este livro questiona a interpretação do Estado egípcio das questões relacionadas com o género na formulação de novas políticas de desenvolvimento social e económico após a revolução de 2012-2015. Questiona também as diferenças entre os discursos de género nas políticas do governo egípcio e as propostas políticas da sociedade civil. O livro explora a forma como ambos os discursos moldam o contexto socioeconómico das mulheres no Egipto e reflectem as desigualdades de género no mercado de trabalho, no contexto dos desafios sociais, económicos e políticos do Egipto.
