Where or what is the Kingdom of God? While a close study of both the Bible and the world has generally delivered more questions than answers, there are still many things we can say with at least some confidence. It is how we interact with the existence of God’s Kingdom here and now that will make a difference for ourselves and others and all creation. While acknowledging that the Kingdom of God is broader than one faith expression, the Biblical witness of the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament are primarily utilised to navigate this study. Whereas the ’Kingdom of God’ is not necessarily the most helpful terminology or translation, due to suggesting an overly geographical concept with boundaries and hierarchies, this book seeks to bring the broadest possible understanding and application of the meaning behind this expression. This journey can be taken day-by-day, or slower, or binge read, or adapted into a group study.

We’ve been duped into removing prayer from the center of our churches and have placed it on the periphery or semi-periphery.  What we’re witnessing today in our churches, and in society at large, is that legacy of prayerlessness.  Church leadership may be hesitant and embarrassed to admit it, but there is a direct correlation between our spiritual weakness and our lack of corpo...

If God is good, why do we get sick? When God created the world, He declared: "It is good." But then came the Fall, and with it sickness and death. In this heart-tugging monograph, Dr. Davis McGuirt draws from both his training in theology and the personal agony of watching his father die from cancer to provide a variety of biblical reasons for why we get sick. We are also remin...

How can people provide a credible witness to Jesus today? The Letter of James in the New Testament, despite being written so many centuries ago, provides much insight into this question. Back in the first century CE, the famous Christian apostle Paul wrote a topical occasional letter, by no means a systematic theology, to Jesus-following Gentiles and Jews in Rome. Paul was concerned that they would be able to mix together graciously in community - a community that would accede to the teachings of Jesus as interpreted by Paul himself, and, in so doing, bring glo...

  • Judas Iscariot
    Warren Hodge
Using Judas Iscariot as the primary case study, this book examines the nature of human betrayal. We begin with the basic question as to why Judas would have betrayed Jesus, who was, theoretically at least, a friend of his. In pursuing this enquiry, we will need to consider a broad range of possibilities as to what sort of disciple Judas really was, and what made him tick. Then,...
