Dio’s Rome V4 is a historical book written by Cassius Dio, a Roman historian who lived in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The book is a continuation of Dio’s earlier works, covering the period from the reign of Marcus Aurelius to the end of the Severan dynasty (161-235 AD). The book provides a detailed account of the political and military events that shaped the Roman Empire during this period, including the rise of the Severan dynasty, the reigns of emperors like Caracalla and Elagabalus, and the various wars and conflicts that occurred. Dio also includes descriptions of important cultural and social developments, such as the spread of Christianity and the emergence of new philosophies and ideologies. Throughout the book, Dio offers his own commentary and analysis of the events he describes, often providing insights into the motivations and actions of the various historical figures he discusses. The book is considered an important source for understanding the history of the Roman Empire, and is widely studied and referenced by scholars and students of ancient history.Tiberius returned to Rome after the winter when Quintus Sulpicius and Gaius Sabinus were consuls. Augustus went out into the suburbs to meet him, accompanied him to the Saepta, and there from a platform greeted the people. Next he performed the ceremonies proper on such an occasion and had the consuls give triumphal spectacles. And since the knights on this occasion with great vigor sought for the repeal of the law regarding the unmarried and the childless, he assembled in one place in the Forum the unmarried men of this number and in another those who were married or had children. Seeing that the latter were much fewer in number than the former he was filled with grief and addressed them to the following effect. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
