Das Küstenmanagement zielt darauf ab, die Summe der wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und ökologischen Faktoren zu verstehen, wobei jedem Faktor die ihm gebührende Bedeutung beigemessen wird, um ein möglichst integriertes Management der Küstengebiete zu erreichen. Angesichts der unzähligen Aktivitäten, die an diesen Orten stattfinden, ist es notwendig, jede Situation spezifisch zu analysieren, um die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten des Verhaltens der Nutzung und Ausbeutung der Küstengebiete in jeder Region genau zu verstehen. Zu diesem Zweck wird in dieser Studie die Entstehung von Strandbars in der Erweiterungszone des Großraums Aracaju in Sergipe analysiert. Dabei handelt es sich um eine kulturelle und soziale Aktivität, die mit einem Umweltraum von beträchtlicher Komplexität interagiert, vor allem weil sie für das ökologische Gleichgewicht der Küstenregionen von großer Bedeutung ist, wobei auch sehr spezifische Biome wie Sandbänke und Dünensysteme berücksichtigt werden.
