Die Hauptaufgaben einer Schlagzeile bestehen im Informieren, aber auch im Animieren (Catching, zu deutsch im Aufmerksamkeit auf sich ziehen). Wie war die printmediale Situation nach dem 11. September 2001, wurde im Sinne des allgemeingültigen Pressekodex berichtet? Im Folgenden werden am Beispiel der Berichterstattung und Schlagzeilenschaffung nach dem 11. September 2001 die Eigenschaften, Funktionsweisen und Gestaltungsweisen der Überschrift näher beleuchtet und dabei besonders die Schlagzeilen-Berichtvorspann-Relation betrachtet.
