Das Verhältnis von Historiographie und Literatur ist seit den Publikationen von Hayden White in den 80er-Jahren Thema auch in der Literaturwissenschaft. Der Konstruktivismus in der Geschichtswissenschaft ist im Kontext der allgemeinen Diskussion um die Textualität von Geschichte und der Geschichtlichkeit von Texten zu einem zentralen Thema der Diskussion geworden, das neben den Entwick-lungen in der Diskurstheorie auch diejenigen im New Historicism stark beeinflußt hat. Philipp Alexander Ostrowicz analysiert in seiner Studie kritisch das Verhältnis von Geschichte und Literatur, von 'historischer Realität' und 'literarischer Wirklichkeit' in Marcel Beyers 1995 erschienenem Roman 'Flughunde'. Die verschiedenen poetologischen Verfahrensweisen Beyers werden herausgearbeitet und erklärt, so u.a. die Montage verschiedener Perspektiven, die Kombination von historischen Daten mit literarischer Verarbeitung und die Einbettung einer fiktiven Handlung in einen präzise situierbaren historischen Kontext.
