Matthias Wühle hinterfragt die traditionelle Wirtschaftsethik, die Ethik als ein Korrektiv der Wirtschaft behandelt. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Problematik von Unternehmen, die ethisch handeln wollen, in der Anwendung einer solchen Ethik aber entweder einen Grundwiderspruch zu den eigenen Geschäftsinteressen sehen oder diese Ethik zu einem Marketing- und PR-Instrument instrumentalisieren. Die Ausprägungen dieses Handelns finden sich meist im Umfeld der Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) und werden weder ethischen Maßstäben noch Zielen des guten Wirtschaftens gerecht. Die Untersuchung zeigt auf, wie sich dennoch eine auf ökonomischen Prinzipien aufgebaute Ethik formulieren lässt.
