Dieses Werk ist das Ergebnis einer Doktorarbeit im Rahmen des PCM-Programms (Postgraduiertenprogramm für Wissenschafts- und Mathematikunterricht) der Staatlichen Universität Maringá (Brasilien), in der die Rolle von Bildern im Physikunterricht unter Berücksichtigung der Theorie der doppelten Kodierung von Allan Paivio untersucht wurde. Darin werden Situationen vorgestellt und diskutiert, die zeigen, wie Bilder die Möglichkeiten zur Wiedergewinnung von Informationen, Konzepten und Kenntnissen, die im Physikunterricht behandelt werden, erweitern können, und verdeutlichen, wie die doppelte Kodierung (Worte und Bilder) von der menschlichen Kognition und dem Gedächtnis verarbeitet wird.
