Besonderes Augenmerk liegt dabei auf der Kontroverse zwischen Hix/Follesdal und Majone/Moravcsik sowie ihren Vorstellungen über Demokratie und das Demokratiedefizit.Außerdem ist es Ziel der Hausarbeit, das Demokratiedefizit zu charakterisieren und zu untersuchen, inwiefern es der EU mit dem Vertrag von Lissabon gelungen ist, das Demokratiedefizit zu beheben. Dazu werden die Komponenten des Demokratiedefizites und die Neuerungen des Lissabonner Vertrages zusammengetragen und gegenübergestellt. Grundlage hierfür ist eine genaue Literaturrecherche zum Thema.Den Schlussteil bildet das Fazit, das aus dieser Gegenüberstellung gewonnen werden konnte.
