Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 2,0, Universität Rostock (Altertumswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Marius, der ’neue Mann.’ Kimbern, Teutonen und Heeresreform., Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 113 v.Chr. trafen die Kimbern und Teutonen das erste Mal mit den Römern zusammen. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt ihren Weg durch Europa auf, beschäftigt sich mit dem Einfall in Italien und ihrer letztendlichen Vernichtung durch Gaius Marius. Die Biographie des Marius wird dargestellt und es wird in kurzer Form über die Herkunft der Kimbern, Teutonen und auch der Ambronen berichtet. Ein Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf den von Marius durchgeführten Reformen des Heeres in Organisation und Aufbau, die den Sieg über die Germanen möglich machten und letztendlich folgt eine Beschreibung der Vorgänge die zum Ende der Kimbern und Teutonen bei Aquae Sextae führten. Ein Fazit über die Gründe für deren Untergang beschließt die Arbeit.
