Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Französisch - Literatur, Note: 2, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Veranstaltung: Voltaires Contes Philosophiques, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bereits im 17.Jahrhundert begannen die orientalischen Einflüsse Einzug in die französischen Lebensformen zu nehmen. Dies geschah einerseits durch Reiseberichte über den Orient, andererseits aber auch durch reale Begegnungen mit dem „Anderen', die ebenfalls das Interesse der Gesellschaft an allem Orientalischen weckten. Der Höhepunkt dieses Interesses und der Orientmode wurde allerdings ab 1704 durch die Übersetzung der Mille et une Nuits in das Französische erreicht. Auch Voltaire folgte dieser Mode und trug mit seinen zahlreichen 'Contes Orientaux' zweifelsohne zu einem Stück Weltliteratur bei.
