​Christian Schramek geht davon aus, dass die Rahmenbedingungen der grenzüberschreitenden Zusammenarbeit bedeutenden Einfluss auf die unterschiedlichen Dimensionen von Politik - verstanden als Polity, Politics und Policy - in einer Europaregion ausüben. Am Beispiel der Europaregionen Egrensis und Elbe/Labe analysiert er aus einer politikwissenschaftlichen Perspektive Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Handlungsrahmen der grenzüberschreitenden Zusammenarbeit einerseits und den Funktionsabläufen innerhalb einer Europaregion andererseits. Der Autor zeigt kausale Abhängigkeiten auf und leistet damit nicht nur einen Beitrag zur aktuellen wissenschaftlichen Diskussion über die Europaregionen, sondern erarbeitet insbesondere auch praxisrelevante Erkenntnisse.​
