Im theoretischen Teil erfolgt ein Abri~ der Klassifikations- schemata depressiver Erkrankungen der letzten 20 Jahre, wobei speziell auf Diagnose und Therapie depressiver Reak- tionen eingegangen wird. Die Widerspr}chlichkeit der Klassi- fikation sowie die Unsicherheit }ber die Artder Behandlung wird dabei erkennbar. Im empirischen Teil werden die Ergeb- nisse einer Quer- und L{ngsschnittuntersuchung von 76 Pa- tientenmit einer depressiven Reaktion berichtet und mit den Ergebnissen von entsprechenden Untersuchungen neurotisch De- pressiver und Normalpersonen verglichen. Die klinische Rele- vanz dieser Diagnosekategorie und die Abgrenzung zur neuro- tischen Depression wird deutlich. Die Konsequenzen f}r therapeutische Ma~nahmen zur Behandlung von depressiven Reaktionen werden diskutiert.
