Dieses Buch beschreibt die Rolle des klinischen Psychologen im Umgang mit Menschen, die an Demenz vom Alzheimer-Typ und verwandten Erkrankungen leiden und in einem Pflegeheim für ältere Menschen untergebracht sind. Meine Begegnung mit älteren Menschen, bei denen die medizinische Wissenschaft ein Demenzsyndrom diagnostiziert hat, besteht in erster Linie darin, sie als Subjekte zu begreifen. Dieses Buch stellt die Legitimität der Stellung des klinischen Psychologen gegenüber der Neuropsychologie in diesem so besonderen klinischen Feld in Frage. Dies setzt voraus, dass die verschiedenen Auffassungen von Demenz, die von der Neurologie bis zur Psychoanalyse reichen, berücksichtigt werden. Anhand einer Fallstudie wollte ich aus einer phänomenologischen Perspektive heraus beleuchten, wie sich die Dichte einer Präsenz und die Art der Bindung zwischen Patient und Kliniker konstituiert. Im Laufe der unterstützenden Psychotherapie und der Analyse der dementiellen Prozesse zeichnet sich die Möglichkeit ab, innerhalb dieser Dyade wieder Erinnerungen zu schaffen. Diese Arbeit wurde ursprünglich im Rahmen des Master 2 Professional in klinischer Psychologie und Psychopathologie an der Universität Denis Diderot - Paris 7 verfasst.
