Estas tecnologias estão a tornar-se ferramentas essenciais e estão a obrigar todos os países a estabelecer políticas para a utilização generalizada destas tecnologias no sistema educativo, a fim de responder aos desafios que enfrentam. As tecnologias da informação e da comunicação seriam uma boa forma de complementar a experiência e não de a substituir. Os professores argumentam que os constrangimentos e as dificuldades associados à integração das TIC se devem essencialmente à falta de infra-estruturas e de apoio (formação).
