Tutto ha inizio quando Pietro, dirigente di un’azienda specializzata in leghe metalliche, al cimitero di Cortelecchio, in un luogo immaginario al sud delle Alpi, rimane in contemplazione della tomba di Rosa Alba, giovane donna morta da sessant’anni. Questa figura sconosciuta lo attrae in maniera fortissima, per lui inspiegabile, come se un sottile legame di sentimenti li unisse al di là del tempo. Grazie all’aiuto di un prete di provincia, inizia a indagare su di lei, fino a ricostruire tutta la sua tragica storia. Durante un viaggio di lavoro in Arabia, Pietro si convince che attorno a sé alcune forze misteriose stanno agendo affinché egli apra gli occhi su una realtà a lui vicina. Gli indizi sono tutti intorno a lui, ma deve imparare a decifrarli, a conoscere meglio le persone che lo circondano e a interrogare se stesso sui propri affetti più autentici. Un romanzo che, intrecciando indagine, introspezione e una buona dose d’ironia, accompagna il lettore in un viaggio verso un amore ai confini della realtà.
