In Africa, and more particularly in Côte d’Ivoire, there is a cohabitation between the national languages and French, so that the use of the latter presents specificities compared to Western countries of French expression.A great deal of emphasis is placed on the environment, which is presented as the factor that most influences the child’s language development. The surveys conducted within the framework of this research theme, which include children from various social backgrounds, allow us to conclude that, in addition to the primary role of the environment on the child’s language, it is rather the quality of the interaction offered to the child and his or her own psychomotor development that influences his or her language development.
