Grid computing enables the sharing of heterogeneousresources among different administrative domainspromising unlimited computational and storage poweravailable on demand. However, Grid applications areoften developed in an ad-hoc manner with little or notransferability across them. Grid applications notonly need to adapt to evolving standards but theyalso need to adjust to a dynamic environment in whichresources can be added and removed on demand. Thisbook presents an approach that simplifies thedevelopment of Grid applications and empowersend-users to take full advantage of Gridinfrastructure. The approach uses domain specificmodeling, a modern software engineering method forautomating the development of software, to develop aworkflow tool that can be used by end-users to createcomplex Grid applications graphically. This bookprovides an introduction to Grid computing andworkflow systems as well as a practical exercise indomain specific modeling.
