Uno de las enfermedades en ascenso a nivel mundial, causada por la alteración de los determinantes sociales en la salud es la diabetes mellitus. Para describir el comportamiento de los determinantes sociales de salud asociados a pacientes diabéticos tipo 2 en el período de julio 2019 a mayo 2021. Se realizó un estudio cuanticualitativo, descriptivo y transversal. Predominaron las mujeres de 75 a 79 años, blancas, sin escolarización, amas de casa, con antecedentes familiares de diabetes mellitus, como comorbilidades la obesidad y las hiperlipoproteinemias primarias. Los determinantes sociales de salud que más incidieron fueron el estrés, el tabaquismo, la dieta inadecuada y predominó la situación económica catalogada como alta.
