Explora, con el DEUM, el mundo de las palabras: cómo se escriben, cuál es su categoría gramatical, su uso social, regional o especializado, su riqueza semántica, morfológica y sintáctica, y la importancia de los ejemplos como herramientas útiles en la formación del conocimiento. El alumno se ve expuesto a los procesos de conceptualización mediante un ejercicio constante del razonamiento y de la abstracción, característicos del proceso de desarrollo de su pensamiento. Una tarea fundamental del manual es la de resaltar la importancia del español de México como elemento de identidad. 10
