Lo scopo dello studio era descrivere le convinzioni stereotipate degli studenti di infermieristica psichiatrica associate alle etichette delle malattie mentali e i potenziali effetti mediatori delle informazioni fornite dai contenuti del programma di studi e dal contatto clinico, concentrandosi su tre etichette di malattie mentali: schizofrenia, disturbo depressivo maggiore e disturbo bipolare dell’umore. I risultati hanno suggerito credenze stereotipate più negative associate all’etichetta della schizofrenia. L’etichetta del disturbo bipolare era quella meno associata a credenze stereotipate negative. Le informazioni fornite durante il blocco didattico iniziale e il contatto durante il periodo di tirocinio clinico hanno portato a una leggera riduzione delle credenze stereotipate negative associate all’etichetta della schizofrenia. Al contrario, le credenze stereotipate negative associate all’etichetta del disturbo bipolare sono aumentate dopo l’informazione e il contatto.
