En la región andina, las comunidades campesinas e indígenas establecen sus derechos colectivos para el aprovechamiento de diversas fuentes de agua. En los últimos años, en países como Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia, se vienen desarrollando políticas de reconocimiento y redistribución de los derechos colectivos de agua, que generan tensiones y conflictos frente a procesos de individualización de estos derechos. En este contexto, el análisis y la formulación de propuestas sobre esta temática se ha limitado, al tomar sólo como referente la región occidental de los Andes, la más conocida. El libro analiza diversas concepciones locales y formas de ejercicio de derechos de agua en sistemas de riego al sur de Bolivia, una región muy poco estudiada; y posteriormente, presenta los principales hallazgos sobre las diferentes formas de colectivos que gestionan el agua y sobre la coexistencia entre los derechos colectivos e individuales de agua. El análisis debe ayudar a profesionales, vinculados al diseño de normativas, políticas y planes para la gestión de recursos hídricos, a comprender los múltiples factores y criterios que sustentan las prácticas locales de gestión colectiva y uso de agua.
