Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 1,3, Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Philosophisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Römer und Perser im 3. Jahrhundert, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die am ausführlichsten beschriebene Frauengestalt der Historia Augusta ist Zenobia, Herrscherin des sogenannten palmyrenischen Reiches. Neben der gallischen Gegenkaiserin Victoria ist sie die einzige Frau, der in dem antiken Geschichtswerk ein eigener Abschnitt gewidmet ist. Dabei wird Zenobia in der Historia Augusta nahezu durchgehend positiv charakterisiert. Ihre Vita steht so im starken Kontrast zur Charakterisierung des damaligen römischen Kaisers Gallienus, der vom Verfasser der HA durchgehend beschimpft und verunglimpft wird. Dies scheint auf den ersten Blick etwas überraschend. Warum sollte ein römischer Autor eine Ursupatorin als stark und fähig darstellen, und den Kaiser als feige und verweichlicht? Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit eben dieser interessanten Diskrepanz in der Darstellung der beiden Figuren.
