Der Weg, el camino del fútbol alemán es un libro que recorre el trayecto de este juego en el país germano utilizando a su selección nacional y a sus mejores equipos a nivel de club como hilo conductor. La narración empieza con la conquista de la primera Copa del Mundo por parte de Alemania, en Suiza 1954, y termina con un epílogo dedicado al combinado de Flick en Qatar 2022. Entremedias, la obra pone el acento en los entrenadores que han forjado el carácter del fútbol alemán a lo largo de las décadas y que, en última instancia, han liderado una revolución ideológica capaz de traspasar fronteras y de ser vanguardia del fútbol europeo. La obra tiene una parte histórica y otra contemporánea y, además, ofrece una mirada sociocultural al fenómeno de este deporte en Alemania.
