Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Literaturwissenschaft - Moderne Literatur, Note: 1,3, Universität Koblenz-Landau, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, das Absurde in dem erstmals 1927 erschienenen Roman Der Steppenwolf von Hermann Hesse aufzuzeigen. Der Steppenwolf, der das Leben des Protagonisten Harry Haller beschreibt, weist einige thematische Parallelen zum Mythos des Sisyphos auf, die in dieser Arbeit herausgearbeitet werden sollen.Dazu gehören insbesondere der Selbstmord, die Ewigkeit und die Rolle der Kunst hinsichtlich des Absurden. In einem Vergleich der beiden ebengenannten Werke soll geklärt werden, an welchen Stellen sie übereinstimmen bzw. voneinander abweichen.Beantwortet werden soll die Frage, inwiefern Harry Haller als eine absurde Figur betrachtet werden kann und ferner, ob der Steppenwolf als ein absurdes Werk aufzufassen ist. Anhand des Camus’schen Weks Der Mythos des Sisyphos soll zunächst das Absurde genauer erläutert werden, bevor dieses in Hesses Steppenwolf ausfindig gemacht werden soll.
