Der Schutz der Menschenrechte beschränkt sich heute nicht mehr auf spezifische internationale Abkommen in diesen Bereichen, denn mit den Bewegungen der regionalen Integration, der Globalisierung der Wirtschaft und der Gesellschaft ist es notwendig, diesen Schutz in transnationale Einheiten wie regionale Wirtschaftsblöcke einzubinden. Es ist nicht möglich, eine auf einen gemeinsamen Markt oder eine vertiefte Union ausgerichtete Integrationspolitik zu betreiben, ohne gleichzeitig die Rechte des Einzelnen zu beeinflussen. Der Schutz der Menschenrechte im Integrationsprozess richtet sich ganz nach den Schutzanforderungen, die bereits im nationalen Recht gewährleistet sind. Um zu verstehen, wie der Schutz der Menschenrechte in den Integrationsprozess einbezogen wurde und mit welchen Mitteln diese Rechte geschützt werden, versuchen wir, die Entwicklung des Menschenrechtsschutzes in Wirtschaftsblöcken zu analysieren, insbesondere in der Europäischen Union und im Mercosur.
