Von Juni 1942 bis Dezember desselben Jahres wurde Japans Kontrolle über den Pazifik jedoch von Douglas MacArthur während der Guadalcanal-Kampagne in Frage gestellt. Das Begehen von Kriegsverbrechen war eine der schrecklichsten Waffen, die ihre Streitkräfte einsetzten, um eine Niederlage abzuwenden.
