Ende 2010 kam es zu einer Flutwelle von Protesten, die sich wie ein Lauffeuer über einen Großteil der arabischen Welt ausbreitete - ein Phänomen, das gemeinhin als Arabischer Frühling bezeichnet wird. In einer Reihe wichtiger Länder (z. B. Tunesien, Ägypten, Libyen, Syrien, Jemen) wurden langjährige autokratische Regime gestürzt. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit liegt auf dem Fall Ägypten, einem der wichtigsten Länder in der Abfolge der Aufstände des Arabischen Frühlings. Wir analysieren detailliert einige der internen sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Ursachen für den Volksaufstand in Ägypten sowie einige externe und geopolitische Faktoren. Darüber hinaus analysieren wir die verschiedenen Ereignisse und Veränderungen, die sich in Ägypten seit dem Sturz des Mubarak-Regimes im Februar 2011 bis zur Wahl von Abdulfatah Elsisi zum neuen Präsidenten Ägyptens im Mai 2014 ereignet haben. Abschließend geben wir einen Ausblick auf die Aussichten für politische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Veränderungen in Ägypten als Folge des Aufstands vom 25. Januar.
