Contexte : La dépression et la cardiopathie ischémique constituent une comorbidité majeure. Objectif : Déterminer la prévalence et estimer la sévérité de la dépression, ainsi que certaines variables sociodémographiques chez les patients atteints de cardiopathie ischémique. Méthodes : Étude transversale menée à l’hôpital universitaire de Bagdad, en Irak. L’étude a porté sur tous les patients atteints de cardiopathie ischémique, à l’exclusion de ceux souffrant d’une maladie instable. Les variables sociodémographiques, les antécédents de maladies comorbides et les complications ont été compilés. Le Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) a été utilisé pour identifier les maladies mentales, les critères DSM-IV pour la dépression et l’échelle Hamilton-17 pour la sévérité de la dépression. Résultats : Au total, 271 patients ont été approchés ; 94,1 % ont répondu. Environ la moitié d’entre eux souffraient d’un infarctus du myocarde (50,6 %), d’un angor stable (31,4 %) et (18 %) d’un angor instable. 45,1 % souffraient de dépression ; 14,9 % de dépression légère, 20 % de dépression modérée, 7,06 % de dépression sévère et 3,14 % de dépression très sévère. Conclusion : Le taux de dépression est élevé chez les patients atteints de cardiopathie ischémique, et il est associé de manière significative aux variables démographiques. Les médecins traitants et les cardiologues doivent être conscients de cette comorbidité.
