The semi colon is used to represent when an author could have chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. Mental health issues are gruesome, but when suffering them in silence it can be horrific. This is a story about me, through poetry. I suffered in silence for close to three years. To many who know me, reading this may be the first time you’re hearing of my struggles. I even kept some of the events in this book from my own family. I want to raise awareness, and break the stigma of getting treated. We need to support each other. You are not alone. Things do get better. We need to speak up, the conversation cannot end because way too many lives have, mine was almost one of them.
