En su pretensión de fundar teóricamente un sistema conceptual, el punto de partida de la filosofía moderna se ha establecido siempre, aun de muy distintas maneras, a partir de la pregunta por los presupuestos de la estructura metafísica de la subjetividad, conduciendo así a la necesidad de fundamentar todo saber en un saber reflexivo del “yo”. En el trasfondo de este propósito se aclara la aspiración del saber como una tarea de autorreflexión mediante la cual lo que se alcanza es un “saber de sí”, en el cual el yo se afianza y establece su identidad consigo. Deparando de este modo el sí-mismo egológico en la condición de posibilidad de la reflexión filosófica, y constituyendo por igual el inicio del ensamblaje racional desarrollado por la subjetividad moderna.
