En este libro se estudian diversos modos de tráfico entre películas y narrativa literaria, ya sean casos de inspiración «a distancia» o indirecta; de adaptaciones puntuales del libro a la pantalla o en sentido contrario; de convergencias, emulaciones o desencuentros entre la obra de determinados escritores y cineastas, o entre la escritura «guionística» y la literaria. Otros ensayos tratan de esclarecer asuntos más generales, como el descarrilamiento de la literatura bajo el influjo del cine, o exponen y resuelven cuestiones prácticas: cómo «traducir» ciertas obras eminentes a imágenes audiovisuales que las honren debidamente, o cómo no hacerlo, cuando el ejemplo es fallido. 10
