Os autores obtiveram uma fórmula geral para calcular as probabilidades de processos de decaimento como l2 + S → l1, l + l → t, ou seja, a fusão de ondas de Langmuir e ondas acústicas iónicas, e a fusão de duas ondas de Langmuir numa onda transversal com frequência de plasma de Langmuir em plasmas isotrópicos e altamente turbulentos, utilizando o método estatístico, e verificaram que o caso altamente turbulento difere do caso isotrópico por uma adição de uma ordem de grandeza. Utilizando uma descrição estatística do estado de turbulência de Langmuir com uma perturbação de modulação desenvolvida, os autores chegam à conclusão sobre a transformação da energia de turbulência em partículas. Obteve-se que oscilações com grandes números de onda são formadas no processo l2 + S → l1: (vetor) k1 = (vetor) k2 + (vetor) k3S, e no processo l + l → t: (vetor) k3t = (vetor) k1l + (vetor) k2l, o que leva à concentração de oscilações na região de grandes números de onda e, consequentemente, a uma mudança na direção da energia de oscilação inicial para a região de amortecimento de Landau e subsequente aquecimento do plasma.
