''Dearer Than Life'' is a historical novel set in the 14th century, during the time of John Wycliffe, an English theologian and reformer who challenged the authority of the Catholic Church. The story follows the life of a young woman named Cicely, who is torn between her loyalty to the Church and her growing doubts about its teachings. As she becomes more involved with the Lollards, a group of Wycliffe’s followers who advocate for a simpler, more personal form of Christianity, Cicely must navigate the dangerous political and religious landscape of medieval England. Along the way, she falls in love with a Lollard preacher named Walter, but their relationship is threatened by the forces that seek to suppress their movement. ''Dearer Than Life'' is a gripping and thought-provoking tale of faith, love, and rebellion in a time of great upheaval. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
