In het boek vertelt Frank over zijn wedervaren met de geïnterviewde dichters, over hun soms merkwaardige uitspraken en hilarische situaties die dergelijke bezoekjes aan de werkkamers opleverden. Twee van de geïnterviewde dichters komen uit Nederland: Joke van Leeuwen en Johanna Kruit.
