Ce travail couvre l’histoire du cinéma en relief dans ses aspects techniques, esthétiques et technologiques. A partir de la construction de ce contexte, et à travers une trame temporelle, nous avons cherché à comprendre ce qui a changé dans la mise en scène des films en 3D stéréoscopique des années 1950 à nos jours. Nous sommes partis du principe que l’utilisation de la 3D a en effet beaucoup évolué. Pour cette étude, nous avons sélectionné deux films stéréoscopiques, un représentatif de chaque période historique choisie : Dial M to Kill (1953) et Gravity (2013). Grâce à une analyse détaillée, nous avons cherché à mettre en évidence les principales utilisations de la mise en scène dans chaque film, ainsi qu’à étudier en profondeur les modèles significatifs de continuité et de changement stylistique - c’est-à-dire à comprendre comment les cinéastes ont utilisé, et utilisent encore, les techniques stéréoscopiques au sein de la mise en scène cinématographique.
