Sir John Retcliffe, eigentlich Hermann Ottomar Friedrich Goedsche (1815-1878), war ein deutscher Schriftsteller. Er benutzte auch das Pseudonym Theodor Armin. Aus dem Buch: 'Am dritten Morgen nachher bewegte sich ein einfacher Trauerzug aus dem Quarantänegebäude der russischen Pontus- Festung Sewastopol nach dem Kirchhof am Ende des Quarantänehafens. Ein russischer Geistlicher ging dem Sarge voran, der nach griechischer Sitte offen und niedrig getragen wurde. Nur wenige Personen hatten sich dem Zuge angeschlossen: einige Diener aus dem Hospital der Quarantäne, eine griechische Frau und ein Mann in orientalischer Kleidung zwischen zwei russischen Marinesoldaten. Der Mann war Edward Maubridge, der Baronet; im offenen Sarge, Rosmarin in den dunklen Locken und auf der Brust, lag Diona Grivas, die Schwester von Gregor Caraiskakis.'
