La regione del Nakhchivan si trova in un territorio geostrategico, che è sempre stato nella cerchia degli interessi degli Stati vicini e delle grandi potenze. Una delle questioni più importanti che la moderna storiografia azerbaigiana si trova ad affrontare è lo studio della storia della diplomazia, analizzando le vite e le attività dei diplomatici che hanno avuto un ruolo importante nella storia dell’Azerbaigian. La regione di Nakhchivan, che storicamente ha dato personalità di spicco all’Azerbaigian, è anche il luogo di nascita di alcuni diplomatici di spicco. Nessuna delle figure politiche e statali del Nakhchivan che abbiamo citato ha avuto una formazione diplomatica.
