Desde os anos 90 até aos dias de hoje, a tecnocumbia tem sido um dos fenómenos culturais que tem marcado a história dos jovens e outros cidadãos dos bairros populares de Bucaramanga, proporcionando a esses sectores da sociedade uma identidade artística que os tem ajudado a sobreviver às desigualdades económicas e políticas que tradicionalmente sofreram. Esta investigação baseia-se na seguinte hipótese: o comércio informal está diretamente relacionado com o início e o desenvolvimento da tecnocumbia, uma vez que foi responsável pela divulgação e comercialização nos sectores populares da cidade de Bucaramanga. Além disso, a tecnocumbia faz parte da cultura popular da cidade, e em torno dela foram geradas expressões que incluem a dança e o barrismo. Portanto, não é possível entender o movimento tecnocumbiero de forma singular, mas é necessário levar em conta sua influência sobre essas manifestações. Para reconstruir a tecnocumbia como cultura popular na cidade de Bucaramanga, trabalhámos com diferentes fontes primárias, como material jornalístico, audiovisual, fotográfico e musical.
