Dagoberto Valdés Hernández es Ingeniero Agrónomo de profesión, educador de vocación y dirigente católico de alma. Desde su provincia de Pinar del Río, Cuba, ha dirigido con firmeza y serenidad la revista Vitral, con una notable capacidad periodística que destaca su talento polifacético y después la muy reconocida revista Convivencia. Nació el 4 de agosto de 1955, trabajó 16 años en la Empresa del Tabaco de Pinar del Río y presidió su Consejo Técnico Asesor. En 1996 fue expulsado de su trabajo por su labor en Vitral y castigado a la recolección de yaguas (vaina de la hoja de palma). Desempeña hasta hoy este trabajo sin descuidar su vocación de dirigente laico católico, que ha incluido formar parte de la Presidencia del Encuentro Nacional Eclesial Cubano (ENEC), la fundación del Movimiento de Ministros laicos de la Palabra, de la Comisión Católica para la Cultura de la Diócesis de Pinar del Río y del Centro de Formación Cívica y Religiosa. Además, fue miembro del Pontificio Consejo Justicia y Paz y de la directiva del Instituto de EstudiosCubanos (IEC).En este libro colaboran con sus escritos miembros del Grupo Convivencia con sede en Pinar del Río, Cuba. La edición estuvo al cuidado de Gerardo Enrique Martínez Solanas bajo la dirección de Dagoberto Valdés. Todos los trabajos constituyen uno de los estudios más completos sobre la realidad cubana bajo el castrismo y las posibilidades que se abrirán cuando llegue la libertad a Cuba. Incluye el texto sobre el daño antropológico que afecta a los cubanos de hoy, el vigor de las raíces cubanas con el P. Félix Varela y José Martí, cómo reconstruir la ética y la Sociedad Civil, la cultura y la educación, pluralismo y democracia, la Diáspora cubana y su contribución al presente y futuro de la Isla y cómo edificar el futuro. Un libro esencial para comprender, sentir y actuar en el presente para el bien común de la cubanidad.Dagoberto Valdés Hernández is an Agricultural Engineer by profession, an educator by vocation and a Catholic leader by heart. From his province of Pinar del Río, Cuba, he has firmly and calmly directed the magazine Vitral, with notable journalistic ability that highlights his multifaceted talent, and later the highly recognized magazine Convivencia. He was born on August 4, 1955, he worked for 16 years at the Pinar del Río Tobacco Company and chaired its Technical Advisory Council. In 1996 he was expelled from his job for his work in Vitral and 'punished' for collecting 'yaguas' (palm leaf pods). To this day he carries out this work without neglecting his vocation as a Catholic lay leader, which has included being part of the Presidency of the Cuban National Ecclesial Meeting (ENEC), the Foundation of the Movement of Lay Ministers of the Word, of the Catholic Commission for the Culture of the Diocese of Pinar del Río and the Civic and Religious Training Center. In addition, he was a member of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and of the board of directors of the Institute of Cuban Studies (IEC).This book is a collaboration with members of the Grupo Convivencia (Coexistence Group) based in Pinar del Río, Cuba. The edition was under the care of Gerardo Enrique Martínez Solanas under the supervision of Dagoberto Valdés. The works constitute one of the most complete studies on the Cuban reality under the Castro dictatorship and the possibilities that will open up when freedom arrives in Cuba. Included is the text on the anthropological damage that affects Cubans today, the vigor of Cuban roots with Fr. Félix Varela and Jose Marti, how to rebuild ethics, civil society, culture and education, pluralism and democracy, the Cuban Diaspora and its contribution to the present and future of the Island and how to build for the future.
