Chronicles the life of a Navy Brat, Crystal turned pianist, performer and first ’lawful’ wife to a bigamist; the love of HER life! We have a bird’s eye view of her unlawful shenanigans in the back room on several Navy bases, and her growth in her career. We start her story as a grade school youngster, through her first teenage heart-throb, and her experimental sexual exploits as a teenager. Her career as professional pianist/performer happened quite accidentally but it is the driving force of the book through her turbulent marriage of more than 50 years. Naturally in these 50 years we see a lot of her Navy husband and his activities outside of this marriage as well as the many money making opportunities that Crystal can afford to make happen, she’ll just write another song or take another trip to Vegas or Atlantic City. She was quite a gal!

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
