Os principais objectivos do livro são de natureza concetual; propomos novas definições dos conceitos de crise e regulação, com um carácter não cíclico. Neste contexto, procurou-se apontar o mecanismo económico chave - o ciclo económico - bem como o processo de regulação financeira e os seus objectivos mais importantes. O livro pretende contribuir para a expansão do conhecimento, propondo alguns elementos novos nas explicações lógicas do tema. Apresentamos argumentos: para o carácter necessário dos ciclos económicos e o lugar da crise neste contexto de ciclos económicos; para uma nova definição de crise socioeconómica; para a criação de uma nova arquitetura da regulação financeira, a nível global; para possíveis respostas: a regulação financeira representa uma causa ou um efeito da crise?
