Cosmopolis: Immortals Crowned By The French Academy is a novel written by Paul Bourget. The book is a story of a young man named Georges Duroy who rises from poverty to become a wealthy and influential figure in Parisian society. Duroy is a social climber who uses his charm and cunning to manipulate the people around him and achieve his goals. He becomes involved in a number of love affairs with various women, including Clotilde de Marelle, Madeleine Forestier, and Suzanne Walter. As Duroy’s power and influence grow, he becomes increasingly corrupt and manipulative, and his relationships with the women in his life become more complicated and fraught with tension. The book is a commentary on the corrupting influence of power and wealth, and the ways in which individuals can become consumed by their own ambition. Cosmopolis: Immortals Crowned By The French Academy is considered a classic of French literature and was awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 1891.The complete text, by Paul Bourget. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
